1. About these Terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern access to and use of LP Gauge (the “App”). LP Gauge is currently provided by Bongani Mahlangu, an individual based in the Republic of South Africa (“LP Gauge”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

These Terms form an agreement between the person using the App (“you” or “user”) and the provider of LP Gauge. They apply to Version 1 of the App and to later versions unless replaced or supplemented by updated terms.

Version 1 of LP Gauge is provided free of charge. Later versions may introduce paid features or services. Any paid functionality will be subject to appropriate pricing information, applicable consumer rights, and any additional or updated terms required at that time.

2. Acceptance of these Terms

You must read and accept these Terms before using LP Gauge. Selecting the in-App checkbox confirming that you have read and accept the Terms, and then selecting the acceptance button, constitutes your electronic acceptance of the applicable Terms version.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not proceed to use the App.

LP Gauge may store the version of the Terms that you accepted on your device. If these Terms are materially changed, the App may require you to review and accept a newer version before continuing.

3. Eligibility and intended users

LP Gauge is intended primarily for ordinary household users who want a software-based estimate of LPG consumption for routine cooking use and who know, or can reasonably identify, the nominal size of the LPG cylinder they are using.

Users under 18 should use LP Gauge only with appropriate involvement or supervision from a responsible adult. LP Gauge is not intended to teach any person how to install, repair, refill, modify, inspect, test, or diagnose LPG equipment.

Use of the App does not make a person qualified to install, repair, service, inspect, refill, alter, certify, or diagnose an LPG cylinder, regulator, hose, stove, appliance, valve, fitting, or installation.

4. What LP Gauge does

LP Gauge uses information entered or selected by the user—such as cylinder size, normal cooking periods, selected cooking or heating activities, quantities, and typical durations—to calculate an estimated pattern of LPG consumption and an estimated amount or period of LPG remaining.

The current App supports nominal cylinder-size selections including 2 kg, 3 kg, 5 kg, 9 kg, 14 kg and 19 kg.

LP Gauge uses a modelled consumption method. The model may use fixed assumptions, coefficients and calculation rules. These assumptions are intended to provide a practical estimate and are not a physical measurement of actual gas usage.

5. Known limitations

In the current version, LP Gauge:

• does not weigh the cylinder;
• does not measure cylinder pressure;
• does not contain or communicate with a physical LPG sensor;
• does not measure actual gas flow;
• does not verify the quantity originally filled into a cylinder;
• does not independently detect use by another person;
• does not verify the accuracy of user-entered cooking durations or quantities;
• does not detect gas leaks, fires, carbon monoxide, defective equipment, unsafe regulators or unsafe installations;
• cannot confirm the integrity, legality or mechanical condition of LPG equipment.

Actual LPG consumption can differ because of burner size, burner setting, number of burners used, stove or appliance type, appliance efficiency, flame intensity, LPG composition, environmental conditions, regulator behaviour, cylinder fill quantity, cooking method, changes in household habits, and usage that LP Gauge does not know about.

6. User inputs and shared household use

The usefulness of an LP Gauge estimate depends heavily on the quality of the information supplied to the App. You should provide information that is reasonable, current, complete and accurate to the best of your knowledge.

Incorrect or unrealistic inputs can materially change the estimate. Examples include selecting the wrong cylinder size, substantially understating cooking duration, entering unrealistic activity quantities, or failing to update the setup after household cooking patterns change.

LP Gauge cannot independently know when another household member uses the same cylinder. Shared or additional usage that is not reflected in the setup can cause the App to overestimate how much LPG remains.

7. New, exchanged, refilled and partially used cylinders

Selecting a nominal cylinder size tells LP Gauge what starting capacity to use in its calculation. It does not mean that LP Gauge has verified the actual mass of usable LPG in that cylinder.

A cylinder described as 9 kg, for example, is treated according to the selected starting value used by the App. The App cannot independently confirm whether exactly that amount of usable LPG was present.

Estimates may be materially inaccurate if the cylinder was already partially used, underfilled, incorrectly identified, or its starting quantity is otherwise unknown.

8. Estimates, percentages and depletion times

Every remaining-gas percentage, remaining-time figure, estimated cooking-days figure, depletion timeframe and similar result generated by LP Gauge is an estimate.

A display such as “62%” is an estimated percentage calculated from the App’s model and user-provided information. It is not equivalent to weighing or physically measuring the cylinder.

An estimate such as “approximately 3 days left” means only that, based on the current model and information available to LP Gauge, the App estimates roughly that amount of use remains. Actual depletion may occur earlier or later.

Historical results may have been produced using earlier App versions, assumptions or calculation models. A current estimate does not validate or guarantee an earlier estimate.

9. Notifications are convenience alerts

LP Gauge may provide estimated depletion or low-gas notifications. These are supplemental convenience reminders only.

Notifications may be delayed, suppressed or not delivered because of device settings, notification permissions, battery optimisation, background-processing restrictions, operating-system behaviour, Do Not Disturb settings, software updates, device shutdown, App removal or other technical conditions.

You must not rely exclusively on LP Gauge notifications to determine actual LPG availability or whether an LPG system is safe.

11. Prohibited and inappropriate use

You must not:

• use LP Gauge unlawfully or to place another person at unreasonable risk;
• treat LP Gauge as a safety-critical measurement or emergency-warning system;
• use LP Gauge as the sole source of information where inaccurate LPG-availability information could reasonably create a safety-critical situation;
• attempt to introduce malicious software, interfere with App security, exploit vulnerabilities or disrupt the App;
• copy, impersonate, misuse or misrepresent LP Gauge branding or protected content;
• reverse engineer, decompile or otherwise attempt to extract protected source code except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits such activity despite this restriction.

The current household estimation model is not designed or validated for reliance in commercial kitchens, industrial systems, factories, medical environments, critical infrastructure or other environments where uninterrupted LPG supply or precise LPG availability is safety-critical.

12. Devices, connectivity and availability

You are responsible for maintaining a compatible device, supported operating system, adequate storage, appropriate device security, and any permissions needed for features you choose to use.

LP Gauge does not guarantee compatibility with every device, operating-system version, screen size or future software environment.

If a feature requires internet or mobile data—for example, opening these Terms in a browser or sending feedback by email—your network provider’s terms and charges may apply and are your responsibility.

The App may occasionally be unavailable or affected by maintenance, bugs, updates, device problems, operating-system behaviour or other technical failures.

13. Software, model and feature changes

LP Gauge may be updated to improve, correct, add, remove or change features, calculations, supported cylinder sizes, user interfaces, notification rules, technical requirements or estimation assumptions.

We may refine the estimation model as product research, testing and technical development continue. A model change may change future estimates even if the user’s behaviour has not changed.

Version 1 is an early consumer release. Software may contain bugs, display errors, calculation errors, compatibility issues, notification errors, data corruption or incomplete functionality. We do not promise that software will be error-free.

14. Local data and data loss

The current version of LP Gauge is designed to keep core setup and estimation state primarily on the user’s device. This may include configuration choices, cylinder start-time information, calculation state, the accepted Terms version and other App preferences.

Deleting the App, clearing App storage, resetting or losing the device, software corruption, device damage or operating-system changes may cause local data to be lost. LP Gauge does not promise cloud backup, cross-device transfer or recovery of deleted local data unless a future version expressly provides those services.

15. Privacy

A separate LP Gauge Privacy Policy will explain applicable personal-information practices, including what information is processed, why it is processed, where it is stored, and the rights available to users under applicable law.

Core V1 calculation data is intended to remain on-device. If you voluntarily send feedback or support information by email, that information will be processed through the email services used by you and by LP Gauge.

If later versions introduce accounts, analytics, crash reporting, cloud services, payments or other data-processing functionality, the Privacy Policy and related disclosures will be updated as appropriate.

16. Third-party software, services and external links

LP Gauge may rely on third-party or open-source software components. Those components remain subject to the rights, notices and licence terms of their respective owners.

The App may open external webpages, email applications, app-store services or other third-party services. LP Gauge does not control third-party services and is not responsible for their availability, security practices, terms, privacy practices or content.

A link to an external resource does not automatically mean that LP Gauge endorses every statement, product or service available through that resource.

17. Intellectual property

Except for third-party materials and open-source components, all rights, title and interest in original LP Gauge materials belong to Bongani Mahlangu to the extent protected by applicable law.

This includes, where legally protectable, the LP Gauge name, brand identity, brandmark, logo, tagline, original software source code, original interface designs, graphics, written content, documentation, original arrangement and presentation of content, and other original materials created for LP Gauge.

These Terms do not transfer ownership of LP Gauge intellectual property to you. Subject to these Terms, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the App for its intended purpose.

Nothing in these Terms claims ownership over third-party intellectual property, open-source software, ideas or mathematical principles that are not legally capable of exclusive ownership by LP Gauge.

LP Gauge intellectual property or the LP Gauge business may later be assigned or transferred to a company, successor or other lawful owner. Where required, users will be informed of material changes to the identity of the provider.

18. User feedback

You may voluntarily send bug reports, ideas, suggestions or feature requests. You retain ownership of intellectual property that already belongs to you.

By voluntarily submitting product feedback, you give LP Gauge a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to use, reproduce, adapt and implement that feedback for the purpose of developing, improving, operating and promoting LP Gauge, without an obligation to compensate you for the idea or suggestion.

19. Warranties and service limitations

Subject always to rights and warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded, LP Gauge is provided as an estimation tool without a guarantee that:

• an estimate will exactly match actual LPG consumption or remaining LPG;
• a predicted depletion date or remaining-use period will be accurate;
• notifications will always be delivered or delivered on time;
• the App will operate continuously, securely or without errors;
• the App will be compatible with every device or operating system;
• data will never be lost or corrupted.

21. Suspension, termination and discontinuation

We may suspend, restrict, modify or discontinue LP Gauge or particular features where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, legal compliance, technical changes, product changes, abuse prevention or discontinuation of the service.

Because current V1 data is primarily stored locally, discontinuation of an online resource does not create a promise that local data will be backed up, transferred or recoverable.

22. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect product changes, legal requirements, new functionality or changes in how LP Gauge operates.

Updated Terms will identify a new version number and effective date. Where changes are material, LP Gauge may require you to review and accept the new Terms version before continuing to use the App.

24. General provisions

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent legally possible.

No waiver

If LP Gauge does not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, that does not automatically mean the provision has been permanently waived.

Entire agreement

These Terms, together with any Privacy Policy or additional policy expressly incorporated into them, constitute the applicable agreement governing use of LP Gauge, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

App-store and platform terms

If LP Gauge is distributed through an app store or other software-distribution platform, the platform’s applicable terms may also govern your relationship with that platform. These Terms govern your relationship with the LP Gauge provider.

Future paid features and marketplace functionality

Version 1 of LP Gauge is free and does not currently sell LPG or operate a marketplace. If future versions introduce paid features, payments, seller relationships, marketplace functionality or commercial transactions, additional or updated terms will be provided as appropriate.
